Austin and Ty Dillon Compete in UMP DIRTCar Nationals
1February 13th, 2014 - Team Dillon Racing with driver's Austin & Ty Dillon kicked off the 2014 UMP DIRTCar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park on Thursday.

Austin posted the quickest lap overall during time trials while Ty timed in fifth quickest. After the heat race invert, Ty was slated to start third, Austin fourth, in heat #2. The pair went on to finish 1-2, Austin winning and Ty second, locking them both into the 20 lap feature event.

Austin took the lead on the initial start and stayed out front during the early laps before rough track conditions began to take effect on both TDR driver's. Both driver's would roll the nose under the front end of the car making handling very difficult, Austin was able to hold on for an 8th place finish while Ty came home in 14th.

After heavy rain forced Wednesday night events to be cancelled at Volusia Speedway Park, action resumed on Thursday night and 58 competitors were signed in.

Ty set the overall fast time during time trails with a 17.489 seconds lap and went on to finish second in his heat race followed by Austin in third in that same heat. Austin would start ninth in the 20 lap feature while Ty rolled off from 15th.

During the course of the feature event, Ty had charged his way to fourth as the field saw the halfway with Austin in sixth. It was a good night for Team Dillon Racing, when the checkered flag flew Ty crossed the line behind race winner Kyle Bronson by only 0.28. Matt Westfall finished third followed by Austin in fourth and Justin Allgaier rounded out the top five.
