Team Dillon Racing Compete in 8th Annual Firecracker 100
1June 28th, 2014 - Team Dillon Racing made the trek to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pennsylvania) over the weekend to compete in the 8th Annual Firecracker 100.

Thursday night's opening round saw a stout field of fifty-five entries for the $8,000-to-win program, which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series. McDowell fell short of locking into the finale via heat race action, but winning the b-main would earn him the 21st starting spot in the 30 lap feature. In the main event Dale advanced eight positions en route to a thirteenth place finish.

Friday night's $6,000-to-win program would see very different results for Dale McDowell. On the seventh lap of the fourth heat race McDowell slid off the wall-less racing surface in turn three, and slammed backwards into a steel guardrail that protects the pit area. A red flag was put out for the impact, which left the back end of the car perched atop the guardrail. Dale was stunned by the impact, but was able to climb from the cockpit without assistance and did not require any medical attention.

The team would roll out a backup car for Saturday night's $30,000-to-win finale in the 8th Annual Firecracker 100. Dale finish second in his heat race behind Darrell Lanigan, earning him the eleventh starting spot for the 100 lap feature. After a delayed start due to rain, the main event finally went green just before midnight. During the course of the feature, which was called official on lap 90 as the rain moved in once again, McDowell advanced to a fourth place finish behind race winner Darrell Lanigan, Scott Bloomquist, and John Blankenship.
