Austin Dillon Continues UMP Summer Nationals Competition
1July 9th, 2014 - After a night off, Austin Dillon returned to action with the UMP Summer Nationals tour on Tuesday night at Florence Speedway (Union, Kentucky). Thirty-three Super Late Model registered for battle, and Austin starting his night by qualifying fifth in his group. He later finished eighth in the in the second heat race, but only the top five finishers advanced, forcing him to run a b-main. Dillon railed from his third row starting spot to claim the win in the b-main, locking him into the sixteenth starting spot for the $5,000-to-win finale. Austin had worked his way up to thirteenth before the right front nose piece rolled under the car and he was forced to retire on lap seventeen of the 40-lapper. He was credited with an eighteenth place finish in the final rundown.

On Wednesday night action shifted to Terre Haute Action Track (Terre Haute, Indiana) for a $5,000-to-win UMP Summer Nationals event. Austin timed in third in his group during qualifications, and went on to finish fourth in his heat race to lock into the seventh starting spot for the 40 lap finale. During the course of the feature Dillon raced to a solid fifth place finish behind race winner, Billy Moyer, Brian Shirley, Shannon Babb, and Brandon Sheppard.
