Team Dillon Racing Heads West for 11th Annual Knoxville Nationals
1September 27th, 2014 - Dale McDowell and Team Dillon Racing entered the opening round of the 11th Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals on Thursday night.

A talented field of seventy-nine entries registered for battle, and Dale started his outing by qualifying fastest in his group during time trials. Via the inversion he started eighth in his heat race before advancing to a third place finish, which positioned him starting seventh in the 25 lap, $7,000-to-win preliminary feature. In the main event, McDowell raced around the top ten early on before slipping to an eleventh place finish in the final rundown.

Friday night's preliminary action once again saw McDowell qualify fastest in his group, and via the inversion was locked into the eighth starting spot for his heat race. Dale charged to a third place finish in the heat race to position himself starting eighth in the $7,000-to-win feature. McDowell battled amongst the top ten throughout the event before ultimately crossing the finish line in seventh.

Dale's strong preliminary night performances earned him the fifth starting spot on the grid for Saturday night's $40,000-to-win finale. McDowell was racing at the front of the pack when a mechanical failure brought his night to an end just before the halfway mark. He was credited with a 25th place finish.
