Dale McDowell Competes in LOLMDS Doubleheader
1October 5th, 2014 - Team Dillon Racing driver Dale McDowell entered a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events in the state of Georgia over the weekend.

Action kicked off on Saturday night at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia), as a stout field of forty-five Super Late Models registered for the $10,000-to-win program. Dale qualified third in Group B during time trials before charging to a heat race win to lock into the second starting spot for the feature, alongside Scott Bloomquist.

At the start of the 50 lap main event, McDowell trailed Bloomquist for the first fifteen circuits until Bloomquist lost the handle on his entry in heavy traffic and spun out. McDowell inherited the top spot and led until fourth starting, Chris Madden passed him with seventeen laps remaining. A caution with seven laps to go bunch the field back up, but it was Madden who prevailed to the victory with McDowell settling in second. Completing the top five were Don O'Neal, Steve Francis and Jimmy Owens.

A rare Sunday evening program took the team to Rome International Speedway (Rome, Georgia) for another $10,000-to-win, LOLMDS event.

Thirty-four entries filled the pit area at the lightning-fast, 1/2 mile oval, and a second place finish in heat race action earned Dale the fifth starting spot on the feature grid. In the 50 lap finale, McDowell was running in the top five when terminal issues on lap six brought his night to an early end with a disappointing 22nd place finish.
