McDowell Reels In Two Podium Finishes / Parkhurst Scores Top Five Outing

Dale McDowell entered a doubleheader at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee), which kicked off on Friday night with a $4,000-to-win, Southern All Star (SAS) Racing Series event. Twenty-nine entries registered for the event, and Dale qualified second in his group to lock into the third starting spot for the 40-lap main event. McDowell ran second for much of the race but was unable to challenge for the top spot as he settled for runner-up honors behind race winner, Randy Weaver. Mike Marlar, Casey Roberts, and Chris Madden rounded out the top five finishers.

Saturday night's program at Smoky Mountain Speedway boosted a $6,000 top prize for the Old Man's Garage (OMG) Spring Nationals tour. Dale qualified sixth overall amongst the twenty-three entries and went on to win his heat race, locking him into the sixth starting spot on the feature grid. McDowell ran as high as second at times in the 50-lapper before settling to a third place finish behind race winner, Casey Roberts, and Jimmy Owens. Mike Marlar and Chris Madden completed the top five.

With action at Swainsboro Raceway (Swainsboro, Georgia) once again falling victim to Mother Nature, Ahnna Parkhurst returned to Hartwell Speedway (Hartwell, Georgia). Ahnna posted the eleventh fastest lap during qualifications, locking her into the eleventh starting position for the main event. Parkhurst enjoyed a great outing during the feature as she advanced six positions to a fifth place finish in the final rundown.
