Dillon Brothers Compete in UMP DIRTcar Nationals in Florida

February 14th, 2016 - Ty Dillon made his 2016 debut on Tuesday night traveling to Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Florida) powering the Team Dillon Racing #41 Open Wheel Modified for the 45th Annual DIRTcar Nationals. Competing in a field of fifty-nine cars, Dillon logged the 5th fastest time in his group giving him a 3rd row starting spot for his heat. Transferring the top three, Ty fell one spot short with a 4th place outing. Needing a 2nd place finish or better to make the $1,000-to-win A-Main, Ty Dillon came up short a transfer position.

Returning for the second night of action, Ty Dillon earned a 2nd row starting spot for his heat after timing in 2nd quick in his qualifying group. Finishing 2nd in his heat, Dillon was slated to start 12th for the 20-lap main event. Battling for $1,000 payday, Ty stormed through the field eight positions notching a 4th place finish behind Nick Hoffman, Kenny Wallace, and Jason Beaulieu, with David Stremme coming in 5th.

On Thursday for the third night of the UMP DIRTcar Nationals, Austin Dillon made his debut powering the TDR #3 Open Wheel Modified while Ty competed in his third consecutive event. Ty timed in quickest in the entire field, resulting in a 4th place starting spot for his heat. Austin recorded the 2nd fastest time in his group, setting him up with a 3rd place starting position. Transferring the top three into the A-Main, Austin edged his way with a 3rd place outing and Ty scored a 2nd place finish earning him a 4th row starting spot for the main event. With $1,000 on the line, Ty improved six spots in the 20-lapper scoring a runner-up finish behind Tyler Nicely with Brian Ruhlman, Jason Beaulieu, and Nick Hoffman rounding out the top five. Austin improved five spots in the feature recording a 13th place outing.

With Ty the only one racing on Friday night, Dillon posted the 5th fastest qualfiyng time in his group earned his a 5th place starting spot for his heat. Edging his way into the feature with a 3rd place spot, Ty Dillon was set to start 15th for the main event. Gaining ten spots in the 20-lapper without any brakes, Ty scored a 5th place finish behind Trent Young, Nick Hoffman, Jacob Hawkins and Kenny Wallace.

Laying down the fastest time in qualifying, Ty Dillon earned a 4th place starting spot for his heat. Storming to the front in the first lap, Dillon earned the pole positon starting spot for the feature after his heat race victory. Getting passed with 2 laps remaining, Ty landed a runner-up finish behind Nick Hoffman with Josh Harris, Ray Bollinger, and Bryce Jewel rounding out the top five.

With Austin returning behind the wheel on Sunday night, Dillon earned a 4th place starting spot for the main event after cruising to a heat race victory. Gaining one positon in the 20-lapper, Austin Dillon notched a 3rd place finish behind Brian Ruhlman and Jacob Hawkins with Kenny Wallace and Max McLaughlin completing the top five.
