Busy Week for Team Dillon Racing in Florida Speedweeks; Podium Finish for McDowell

February 20th, 2016 - Competing in the seventh night of the 45th Annual UMP DIRTcar Nationals, Austin and Ty Dillon were both signed in on Monday night for the Gator Championship. Based off preliminary events, Austin earned a 3rd place starting spot for the feature while his brother would start one spot behind him in 4th. Battling for a $5,000 payday, Austin notched a runner-up finish behind Nick Hoffman while Ty scored a 4th behind Jason Beaulieu with Brian Ruhlman coming in 5th.

Team Dillon Racing returned to Volusia Speedway Park on Tuesday night but with different members of the team behind the wheel. Dale McDowell was one of fifty-one cars competing the Late Model division while Ryan Gifford took part in the Modified class. Laying down the fastest time in his group, McDowell scored a runner-up finish in his heat behind Billy Ogle Jr. Starting in 10th for the $7,000-to-win A-Main, Dale suffered a flat tire with 5-laps remaining sending him back to a 18th place outing.

Powering Ty Dillon’s #41 Open Wheel Modified in the 15-lap feature, Ry Gifford scored a 10th place finish in the $600-to-win main event.

On Wednesday night with fifty-two Super Late Models signed in, Dale McDowell earned the pole position starting spot for his heat after posting the fastest qualifying time in his group. Leading from start-to-finish, McDowell was set to start the main event from the front row alongside Steve Casebolt. With $10,000 on the line, Dale fell one spot in the 40-lap affair recording a podium finish behind Scott Bloomquist and Jonathan Davenport with Josh Richards and Rodney Sanders rounding out the top five. Returning on Thursday for the first night of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series (WoO) action, Dale McDowell was slated to start in the 3rd row for his heat after timing in 6th fastest in his group. Storming his way to the front, McDowell captured a heat race win transferring him into the main event. Starting on the front row alongside Josh Richards, McDowell held his spot for all 50 laps finishing 2nd behind Richards with Jonathan Davenport, Scott Bloomquist, and Rick Eckert trailing them across the finish line.

Recording the 7th fastest qualifying time in his group on Friday night, Dale McDowell earned a 3rd place starting spot or his heat. Transferring the top three into the feature, McDowell grabbed the last transfer spot with a 3rd place finish. Coming from 13th, Dale improved five spots in the 50-lapper landing a 8th place finish.

Wrapping up the 45th Annual DIRTcar Nationals, Dale McDowell grabbed the last transfer spot in his heat on Saturday night with a 3rd place finish. Battling for the $10,000 payday in the 50-lap A-Main, McDowell gained one spot recording a 16th place outing.
