McDowell Attends 46th Annual World 100; Parkhurst Places in Top 5 at Senoia

September 10th, 2016 - Running in the 46th Annual World 100, Dale McDowell and Team Dillon Racing headed to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday night for the UMP DIRTcar program. Drawing 108 Super Late Models for the first round of qualifying features, McDowell grabbed the last transfer spot in his heat with a 5th place finish. Starting in 20th for the opening night A-Main, Dale improved six spots in the 25-lapper registering a 14th place outing.

On Friday night starting on the front row of his heat, Dale landed a runner-up finish behind Duane Chamberlain earning him the 3rd-starting spot for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, McDowell posted a 5th place finish behind Bobby Pierce, Devin Moran, Jimmy Mars, and Don O’Neal.

For the final night of the World 100, Dale started the night off with a heat race win putting him on the pole for the $49,000-to-win finale. After losing the lead on lap 17, McDowell held on to a podium spot in the 100-lap affair notching a 3rd place finish behind Bobby Pierce and Dennis Erb Jr. with Billy Moyer Jr. and Earl Pearson Jr. rounding out the Top 5. On Friday night Ahnna Parkhurst made her first career start at Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Pooler, Georgia) competing in the Crate Late Model division. After starting on the pole and get sent to the back for the jumping the start, Parkhurst rallied back to a 2nd place finish earning her the 4th-starting spot for the feature. Holding her position for the entire distance of the feature, Ahnna scored a 4th place finish.

The following night brought Parkhurst to Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) competing in the Crate Late Model division.  After starting in 9th in the feature, Ahnna was passing for 5th until getting caught up behind a wreck and bringing an early end to her night.
