February 18th, 2017 - Shane McDowell Racing returned on action on Friday with Dale McDowell and Ahnna Parkhurst making the trip to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series season-opener. In a field off 44 Super Late Models, McDowell posted the 4th fastest time in his qualifying group putting him on the front row of his heat. Making hard contact with the wall on the very first lap, McDowell suffered heavy damage bringing an early end to his night. In a field of 24 Crate Late Models, Parkhurst recorded the 11th fastest time in qualifying sending her into the B-Main. Slipping up from her pole position, Ahnna logged a 3rd place spot but was locked into the feature. Running into trouble in the final laps of the A-Main, Parkhurst smashed the left side of her car against the wall ending her night.

Looking for better results on Saturday after the crew worked throughout the night to get both cars ready another round of action, McDowell followed up the 3rd fastest time in his qualifying group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Casey Roberts. Battling for a $10,000 payday in the feature, Dale fell back to a 24th place outing after bringing out a caution on lap 24. Parkhurst posted the 9th fastest time in her qualifying session and then reeled in a solid 10th place finish in the feature. (Glen Starek photo)
