Ahnna Parkhurst Improves Five Spots in Feature at Cochran

March 11th, 2017 - Shane McDowell Racing saw both Dale McDowell and Ahnna Parkhurst in action over the weekend.

Dale and the crew headed to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals opening weekend. With 23 cars signed in for the two-day Tennessee Tipoff, Dale followed up the third fastest time in his qualifying group with a runner-up finish behind Chris Madden in his heat. Slated to start 6th for the $15,000-to-win A-Main on Saturday, the race was eventually postponed after snow flurries began to fall.

On Friday night Ahnna Parkhurst invaded Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) for the NeSmith Winter Shootout sanctioned weekend. In a field of 37 Crate Late Models, Parkhurst ran into brake issues early in the night which sent her back to 12th fastest in qualifying. Needing to place 4th in her heat to make the opening night $2,000-to-win A-Main, Ahnna came one spot short with a 5th place outing.

The following night Ahnna was competing in both the 602 and 604 divisions. Falling back to a 7th place finish in her heat, Parkhurst failed to transfer out of the B-Main in the 604 bringing an early end to her night. In the 602 division, Parkhurst locked her spot into the A-Main with a 5th place finish in her heat. Coming from the 10th-starting position, Ahnna Parkhurst worked her way up to a 5th place finish.  (Rj's Racing Updates photo)
