McDowell Posts Podium Finish in King of Commonwealth at VMS

April 9th, 2017 - On Friday evening Shane McDowell Racing and Ahnna Parkhurst visited Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series sanctioned weekend. Drawing 33 entries for the two-day Rumble on the Gumbo, Parkhurst qualified eleventh fastest overall sending her into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 6 into the $2,000-to-win opening A-Main, Ahnna came short of a transfer position.

The following night Parkhurst was back in action along with Dale McDowell competing in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series sanctioned event at Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia). Failing to lock her spot into the feature with the thirteenth fastest qualifying time, Parkhurst secured his spot in the show after passing five cars in her B-Main to place 4th. With $2,500 on the line, Ahnna Parkhurst improved three positions in the 50-lapper registering a 14th place outing.

During the same night in a field of 34 Super Late Models for the Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth, McDowell followed up the fastest time in his qualifying group with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Jonathan Davenport. Rolling off 6th for the $20,000-to-win A-Main, Dale worked his way into a podium spot by lap-30. Battling for the lead in the final 30 laps, McDowell landed a runner-up spot behind Brandon Overton with Mike Marlar, Jonathan Davenport, and Chris Madden completing the Top 5 finishers.
