Three Win Weekend for McDowell; Parkhurst Victorious at Rome Speedway

May 29th, 2017 - Kicking off the busy Memorial Day Weekend, Ahnna Parkhurst invaded Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) on Friday night to a field of 20 Crate Late Models. Following the eighth fastest time overall, Parkhurst locked her spot into the feature with a 4th place finish in her heat. Bringing home a Top 10 finish, Ahnna posted a 10th place outing.

On Saturday night, both Ahnna Parkhurst and Dale McDowell were competing at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) for the Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals sanctioned program. In a field of 41 Super Late Models, McDowell posted the fastest time overall in qualifying locking him into the redraw for the feature. Receiving the 2nd-starting position, Dale jumped into the lead on the drop of the green flag and never let go of the top spot capturing his third victory on the season and a $5,000 payday. In the Crate Late Model division, Parkhurst earned the 6th-starting spot for the feature after laying down the sixth fastest time in qualifying. Moving up one position in the A-Main, Ahnna notched a 5th place finish behind Jeff Smith, Bobby Richey Jr., Jake Rainey, and Jason Deal.

Sunday evening saw both Shane McDowell Racing pilots back in action at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia) for another Schaeffer Oil Spring Nationals sanctioned contest. Timing in in the Top 2 in qualifying, McDowell locked into the 2nd-starting position for the $6,000-to-win A-Main. Taking over the top spot by lap 30, Dale McDowell led the final 20 circuits en route to his second straight win and fourth victory of the season. Following the fastest time overall in the Crate Late Model ranks, Ahnna Parkhurst wheeled her way to her first Crate Late Model win and second victory overall on the season.

Wrapping up the action-packed weekend, McDowell stopped at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) on Monday for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series sanctioned event. Drawing 23 Super Late Models for the Freedom Isn’t Free 50, Dale started the night off with a heat race win locking him into the 3rd-starting spot for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Pacing his way to the front, McDowell overtook the top spot on lap 27 and went on to lead the final 33 capturing his third win of the weekend and fifth overall on the season.
