2nd Place Finish With Southern Nationals Series at Boyd's Speedway

July 28, 2018 - Tuesday night brought 28 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series entries to Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) for the $3,500 top prize. Registering the second fastest time in his group behind Randy Weaver, Dale McDowell earned the 4th-starting position for the A-Main. On Thursday night McDowell headed to Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee) for the ninth stop of the tour. Following the third fastest time in his qualifying group, Dale gained three spots in the A-Main notching a 3rd place finish behind Brandon Overton and Casey Roberts with Michael Chilton and Craig Vorsbergen rounding out the Top-5.

The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee), Dale edged his way into the $5,300-to-win A-Main with the 5th fastest time in his group. Slated to roll of 10th, Mother Nature had other plans washing out the night’s remaining events.

On Saturday evening Dale stopped at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) for the series finale. With 23 cars registered in for action, McDowell started the night off with a heat race win earning him the 2nd-starting spot for the main event. With $10,000 on the line, Dale McDowell lost three spots in the 53-lap affair to place 5th behind Brandon Overton, Donald McIntosh, Michael Chilton, and Casey Roberts. (Michael Moats photo)
