Pair of runner-up finishes in Spring Nationals action
May 18, 2019 - Dale McDowell followed the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series to Tri-County Racetrack (Brasstown, North Carolina) on Thursday evening kicking off the three-day weekend. In a field of 14 cars, McDowell registered the fastest time overall in qualifying locking him into the 2nd-starting position for the A-Main. Holding his spot for all 40-laps, Dale posted a runner-up finish behind Donald McIntosh with Casey Roberts, Kenny Collins, and Jamie Oliver rounding out the Top-5. formance in the 50-lap affair.

The following night at Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee), McDowell locked his spot into the $4,000-to-win A-Main with the third fastest time in his qualifying group. Slated to roll off 6th, McDowell suffered mechanical issues on the opening lap that prevented him from finishing one circuit.

Wrapping up three-day stretch with the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals Series, Dale stopped at Thunderhill Raceway (Summertown, Tennessee) on Saturday for the $10,000 top prize. Following the fastest time in a field of 20 cars, McDowell posted a heat race win positioning him on the pole for the A-Main. After leading for the first 37 circuits, Dale dropped one spot to place 2nd behind Ross Bailes with Eric Hickerson, Tanner English, and Dane Dacus rounding out the Top-5. (Robert Holman photo)
