Dale McDowell charges to sixth-place outing in Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway
Returning to the driver's seat after more than a month off, Dale McDowell made his annual trek to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the 30th-annual Dirt Late Model Dream.
After Mother Nature wiped out Wednesday's FloRacing Night in America event, McDowell sat on the sidelines for Thursday as he was placed in Friday's preliminary night.
On Friday, Dale laid down the quickest lap in his stacked qualifying group before finishing third in his heat race. Earning a starting spot on the second-row for the $25,000-to-win preliminary feature, McDowell battled the Top-3 for 50-laps but settled for a runner-up finish behind Devin Moran.
Hitting the invert wrong on Saturday, McDowell was unable to transfer through his heat race but was eligible for a provisional starting position. Starting 19th in the $100,030-to-win showdown, Dale used all 100 laps to his advantage and crawled his way through the field to land inside the Top-10 in sixth.
