Dale McDowell records pair of Top-10 finishes with Lucas Dirt; third in Mountain Moonshine Classic opener
Fresh off his strong weekend at Eldora, Dale McDowell welcomed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to his home state of Tennessee for the Mountain Moonshine Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.).
With 42 Late Models checked in for the $10,000-to-win opener, McDowell picked up a heat race victory and made up one spot in the 40-lap feature to land on the podium in third. He trailed Ricky Thornton Jr. and Tim McCreadie while Devin Moran and Daulton Wilson completed the Top-5.
On Saturday night, McDowell once again won the fourth heat race of the night and earned an A-Main starting spot on the second-row. With a $50,000 paycheck up for grabs, Dale started to fade late in the 60-lapper to finish just inside the Top-10 in ninth.
